Who we are
This site is published by Bulgarians Online (‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’). You can reach us at hello@bulgarians-online.com. If you believe we have something wrong about a public figure, write to the same address.
Accepting these terms
By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site. You may wish to keep a copy, or note the date of the last change at the end of this page.
Other terms that also apply
Our privacy notice applies alongside these terms and describes what we collect and what we publish. Where the two documents conflict on a question about personal data, the privacy notice takes precedence.
What the quiz is and is not
The quiz is a political self-placement tool, provided for information and interest. It is not an opinion poll: respondents come to it themselves rather than being sampled, so the percentages describe the people who took the quiz and not Bulgarian voters. It is not a recommendation of who to vote for, it is not political advice, and it is not campaigning for or against any candidate or party.
Who may take it
The quiz is intended for people aged 18 and over. If you are under 18, do not take it and do not send us your details.
Versions of the quiz
The questions and their wording may change. Each version of the questionnaire has an identifier, shown on the landing page, and every stored result records the identifier of the content it was scored against. If the questionnaire changes while you are answering, your answers are kept. If the wording of a question you have already answered changes in the meantime, that one answer is cleared and you are asked it again, so that no answer is stored against wording you did not see.
Positions attributed to public figures
Positions attributed to public figures are compiled from published sources. Every attributed position is backed by a source, linked from the result page. Not all of the figures included are registered candidates. Where the evidence is insufficient, no position is attributed rather than assumed. Agreement with a figure is calculated only over the statements that figure has a coded position on, which is why percentages for different figures are not always directly comparable.
Corrections
If you believe we have attributed a position wrongly, write to hello@bulgarians-online.com with a link to the published source. We check it, correct it where warranted, and record the change. This is the main way this quiz gets fixed, and we treat such reports seriously.
Your answers
Your answers are saved as you give them rather than only at the end, so that closing the page does not lose them. An unfinished quiz that is never completed is kept for a limited period for drop-off analysis and then deleted. By submitting answers you permit us to use them in aggregated and anonymised form in the statistics shown on the site. Free-text answers and answers marked as private are not published.
Accuracy of what you submit
The details you give about yourself, including name, email and address, must be your own and correct. Do not submit somebody else’s details. We have no technical means of verifying them and do not claim to.
Your result page
Your result is available at its own address, which is not published by us and not indexed by search engines. Anyone who has that address can see the result, so share it at your own discretion. We do not guarantee that the address will remain available indefinitely.
Our content and your right to use it
All rights in the content of this site, including the question wording, the coding of positions, the graphics and the software, remain ours or those of the respective rights holders. You may read the site and share links to it. You may not reproduce, republish or use the content commercially without our written consent. Aggregate results may be quoted with attribution and the date.
Unauthorised use
Do not use the site for any unlawful purpose, to mislead others, to distribute malicious code, to infringe anyone’s rights, or in any way that harms other respondents. Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or its database.
Automated requests and the integrity of the data
Do not submit answers by automated means, do not take the quiz repeatedly in order to distort the statistics, and do not extract content in bulk. We reserve the right to exclude from the statistics any records we judge not to come from individual people, and to restrict access where we suspect such behaviour.
Accuracy of the content
We take care that the content is correct and current, but we provide it as it is. We do not warrant that the site or its calculations are free of error, nor that the content is complete or up to date at any given moment.
Links to other sites
The site links to external sources, including news outlets and official publications. Those sites are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content or their policies.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Changes take effect when published on this page, and the date of the last change is noted below. If you continue to use the site after a change, we take it that you accept the revised terms.
Changes to the site, and interruptions
We may change, suspend or withdraw the site or any part of it, including the questionnaire and the aggregate statistics, without notice. The site may be unavailable for maintenance or technical reasons, and we accept no liability for that unavailability.
Our liability to you
So far as the law permits, we are not liable for indirect loss, loss of profit or loss of data arising from your use of the site or your inability to use it. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any right that Bulgarian law gives consumers and that cannot be limited by contract.
Viruses and security
We do not warrant that the site is free of viruses or other harmful code, and you are responsible for your own protection. You must not introduce malicious code, deliberately overload the infrastructure, or attempt to circumvent security measures.
Personal data
How we handle your personal data is set out in the privacy notice. It also states the thresholds below which we publish no demographic breakdown and no cell on the map, so that no individual can be identified.
Names and trade marks
The name of the quiz, the name Bulgarians Online and the marks associated with them may not be used without our prior consent, including in any way that suggests an endorsement or a collaboration that does not exist.
Governing law and disputes
These terms and your use of the site are governed by Bulgarian law. Disputes are for the competent Bulgarian court at our seat, except where the law provides otherwise, including a consumer’s right to bring proceedings in the courts for their own place of residence. Before going to court, please contact us at hello@bulgarians-online.com. As a consumer you may also complain to the Bulgarian Commission for Consumer Protection.
Miscellaneous
If any provision of these terms is found invalid, the rest remain in force. If we do not exercise a right, that is not a waiver of it.
